LISELOTTE ÖSTBLOM EPK
Liselotte [pronounced lees-eh-lot] is a vocalist, improviser, composer, lyricist, arranger, bandleader, producer and multi-instrumentalist (piano, flute), merging genres of jazz, alternative, neo-soul, urban groove, with an experimental twist all her own. Heralded by Swedish acclaimed critics as ‘an upcoming big name’ and ‘a new star on the jazz heavens’, Liselotte was brought into the spotlight in 2017 following the release of her entirely self-produced debut EP, A Paintbrush Unfold.
While Liselotte’s journey as a composer and artist has deep roots, winning Sweden’s Junior Eurovision Song Contest at just 12 years old, it would seem the gold record hanging on her wall foreshadowed her path to come. International recognition for her artistry has come from being selected by Jason Moran for the prestigious Betty Carter’s Jazz Ahead in 2016, being featured in Jacob Collier’s iHarmU-series, and since making London her home in 2017, she’s been immersed in the creative energy of the city and in the quiet of her own exploration still managed to generate a buzz on the jazz scene as one of the most intriguing new names to watch.

LISELOTTE X DESERT SEA EXPLORATIONS
“It’s a fire, and it’s a road, singing I belong to the dance of song”
“Desert Sea Explorations” is a live-expereince of a some-what contemporary suite. It’s a journey through a poetic narrative born in the dust, set in a landscape of progressive beats, captivating songs with hints of Coltrane and futuristic Little Dragon, experimental improvising, soulful intention and occasional spoken word, much like artists before have merged the tradition of jazz to urban culture.
Since relocating to London from Stockholm, Liselotte has been uprooted from what used to be familiar to explore new paths and musical territories, which is reflected in the dedicated work of DESERT SEA. The return of Liselotte is beating with fire and raw energy, and she surprises the listener not just an eloquent vocalist, eclectic composer and imaginative musician; DESERT SEA is as much shaped of the vibrant UK Jazz Scene as a refined statement from the previous ‘A Paintbrush Unfold’. Still an unfolding process, this project is re-imagining what the jazz singer could be - open to your own exploration.
